Advantar Laboratories was founded by Richard Kenley, Robert Bergstrom, John Alaimo, Ed Foster and David Hale. In addition to their experience developing products within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, our founders have experience taking a service company from startup to full-scale while providing value to Customers and investors alike. Cabrillo Laboratories
Cabrillo Laboratories was founded in San Diego in 1988 to provide product development services to West Coast biotechnology companies. Cabrillo was acquired by RTP-based Magellan Laboratories in 1999.

Cabrillo Laboratories to Magellan
The San Diego site grew to over 100 full time employees between 1999 and 2002. In 2002, revenues exceeded $13 million. Magellan was acquired by Cardinal Health in 2002.

Magellan to Cardinal Health
Advantar's founders assumed management responsibilities for multiple Cardinal Health business units beginning in 2002. These business units comprised the Pharmaceutical Development group within Cardinal Health and included nine sites located throughout the US, the UK and Germany. Over a three-year period, Pharmaceutical Development revenue grew from $130 to $180 million and the business segments included formulation development, analytical development, release/stability testing, genetic engineering, and clinical trial material labeling and packaging.
